Benita Falls Harper Named Executive Director of Fort Worth Employees' Retirement Fund

FORT WORTH, Texas (June 20, 2019) – The Board of Trustees for the Fort Worth Employees’ Retirement Fund has unanimously appointed Benita Falls Harper as Executive Director.

Harper has served as the Fund’s Legal Counsel since July 2017, and as Interim Executive Director since December 2018.  “I am privileged to announce the Fund’s new Executive Director and believe that Benita’s diverse experience in public pensions, law, and municipal government will provide positive direction to the Fund.  The Board looks forward to her providing sound representation to Fund members, Fund stakeholders, and the City of Fort Worth.”  Said Todd Cox, Board of Trustees Chair. 

As Executive Director, Harper’s responsibilities will include all aspects of the day-to-day administration of the Fund, including implementation of Board policy, strategic planning, investment oversight, benefits administration, stakeholder outreach, and staff development.

Harper received her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Rice University and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law School, where she was a Research Editor for the Houston Law Review.  Prior to joining the Fund, Harper served as a Judge for Fort Worth’s Southwest Municipal Court.  Her career includes work as an attorney with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, as well as the Fort Worth City Attorney’s office and the Fort Worth Human Resources Department.
